Out On The Green: Golf Course Jobs

Many people enjoy golf, but not everyone can afford the game. You need equipment, there are greens fees, and you often have to have a membership to a local club. If you’re lucky enough to have a friend or relative with a membership, you can tag along as a guest.

But there are options. Have you ever thought about subsidizing your hobby with a golf career? You could pay your way to play by taking part in one of the many golf course jobs available.

Finding a job on a golf course is as easy as searching the internet or visiting some of the courses in your area. Here are a few ideas of jobs to get you started:

  • Pro Shop. Every golf course has a pro shop. If you’re good at sales and enjoy working in retail, this job is for you.
  • Starter. A starter needs excellent organizational skills and must be able to handle customers well. The starter maintains start times and makes sure everyone gets their game when they should.
  • Ranger. The ranger supervises the players on the range, keeping games moving and offering help to players when necessary.
  • Golf Car Maintenance. If you enjoy working on mechanical things and playing golf, working with golf car maintenance is a way to combine both hobbies. This job requires maintaining the fleet of golf cars.

Golf courses and resorts have many more job opportunities available in practically every aspect of the golf industry. Whether you choose a job out in front with the customers like teaching golf, or behind the scenes in marketing, you’re sure to find the perfect fit.
