Why I Love Teaching
By Profit on Oct 21, 2008 in Careers
From the way people are reacting to my announcement that I want to pursue a career in teaching, you would think that I had just announced I was going to pursue a career as a mass murderer! Relatives have been very unsupportive to put it mildly, and some have been downright hostile. The pay is pathetic, the students are ungrateful, and you’ll never receive any support from the school administration. Benefits are a joke. These are just some of the statements that have been thrown at me.
For me however, there are more important things in life than money. Which other profession gives you the opportunity to rouse young people, the citizens of tomorrow, from their slumber, and spark the flame of enterprise and responsibility? Where else would I have the chance to shape a child’s personality, and guide him on the right path? Other jobs may offer money and comforts, but what about job satisfaction?
My mind is made up. I am going to check up universities that offer teaching degrees, and I have already short listed possible centers, including Kaplan University. Because of my job, a full day course is not really an option. I’ll have to pursue an online college degree to start my new career.
I can’t wait to begin!
