When I Started College

The first year of college was interesting. First of all, it was a rat race to see what I could get myself enrolled in. My goal was to work towards a computer programming degree, but the freshman classes for the program were already full, so I ended up in a lot of language and English classes. I continued trying to get in, meeting a computer animation degree major along the way who helped me out a lot. But, it really didn’t matter much, because I eventually switched my focus.

Of course, I don’t really blame the school for not giving me the resources I needed to start the IT degree I actually wanted, especially since I could have just as easily started it up in the next quarter and been just as successful. Rather, I was more focused on the fact that I ended up going towards something else I rather enjoyed – English. Fast forward a few years though and that friend I made back in Freshman year is making three times as much as me and already has her own house. Now, I don’t have to work 13 hour days, but I definitely won’t be retiring in 10 years either.
