The Hobbies of San Francisco Professionals

San Francisco is one of the most unique cities in the United States. It is a leading city for forward-thinking technological developments and it has an economy which is based on financial investments. However, it’s also a highly permissive city that thrives on its creative energy. For this reason, the hobbies of San Francisco professionals tend to differ greatly from those of professionals in other cities throughout the country.

There’s a joke in the city that says you know you’re in San Francisco if you’ve run naked next to your boss at Bay to Breakers. This annual city event brings together all different types of people on the streets of San Francisco to get dressed up in costumes (or nothing at all) and go carousing in support of a foot race that celebrates the human spirit. This is just one example of an event that draws many different types of people including San Francisco’s 9-5 professionals.

Of course, not all of the city’s professionals are attending costume events. But the hobbies of these people do tend to be more varied than those in other areas. Take, for example, Arthur Trueger. As a Bay Area venture capitalist, Arthur Trueger spends his days making big financial moves in the international technology market. In any other city, you would find that his free time was spent on the golf course. In San Francisco, Arthur Trueger spends his time bicycling, flying, attending the San Francisco Ballet and taking jaunts up to the Oregon Shakespeare Festival. That’s San Francisco in a nutshell.
